Loaves and Fishes

This Sunday is the familiar story of the young boy whose loaves and fishes were to become enough food for 5,000 people.  This year, the children preparing for their first Holy Communion thought about how this reading reminds us of the Eucharist.  Jesus gave thanks, blessed the bread and broke it and then gave it to the people who were hungry - he would do the same at the Last Supper - and we can recognise each of these actions during the Eucharistic prayer and Communion Rite.

In the reading we hear about how Jesus takes care of the people by feeding them ... we are called to follow Jesus' example.

Who do we know who needs our care?  What can we do this week to share God's love and care for them this week?
