Advent is here!

So as one year draws to a close we begin the new Church year with the season of Advent. This is a time of preparation, when we remember Jesus' birth and look forward to his 'coming again', however we can also reflect on how the Lord is present to us in our daily lives.

During Advent, the blog will include news of children's liturgy, parish groups and share art and scripture to help time to reflect (see below). In previous years, we've shared a 2 minute version of Advent, this year a slightly longer version 3.30mins, with some useful reminders of this season.

In Children's Liturgy, the children will be talking about characters and symbols from the Old Testament as they begin to decorate their Jesse Tree - more of this during Advent.
Each Sunday they will share the Gospel story and receive a special card with messages from Jesus, John the Baptist and Mary, as well as learning about children from around the world - which is part of CAFOD's Advent Calendar.

Each Sunday the blog will have posts looking at Art work and the Sunday Psalm.  Art and Faith videos from Loyola Press resources.  If there are parishioners with an interest in art who'd like to share their knowledge of sacred art then please let one of the priests know or use our contact form.

During the week there will be news of parish groups who are preparing for Christmas and if anyone wants to share how they are celebrating the season of Advent please get in touch.
