Novena to Holy Spirit: Day 3

Canon Stephen and Confirmandi on Cathedral Trail
Altar and Cathedra
The Cathedral trails provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about the sacraments.  This year Confirmandi went on two trails, to learn more about the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation.  One of the things we looked at was the Ambo, Altar and Cathedra - all made of the same stone and design to signal their connection.  The ambo the focus of the Liturgy of the Word, the altar the focus of the Liturgy of the Eucharist and the cathedra where the Bishop, as a successor of the apostles sits.

The Soul Of Christ's Body, The Church
Thou, of all consolers, best,
Visiting the troubled breast
Dost refreshing peace bestow.
Come, O Blessed Spirit of Piety, possess my heart.
God, our Father, may I, through the grace of your Spirit,
be forever filled with filial affection for you.
Grant that I may be inspired to love and respect all members of your family as
brothers and sisters of Jesus, who, together with him, call you Abba, Father.

Do you know what time of the church year the photograph of the altar and cathedra was taken. Why do you think the altar is stripped with no altar cloth or candles?
