A call to 24 hours to the Lord

To learn more about the 24 hours of the Lord - in the Year of Mercy.

In the Lancaster Diocese, Lancaster Cathedral will be open for 24 hours starting with the 12.15 Mass on Friday 4th March and ending with 12.15 mass on Saturday 5th March.

Priests will be available for the sacrament of reconciliation throughout the 24 hours.

 

Diocesan Mass Cancelled

News from the Diocese
Diocesan Mass for Year of Mercy mass at 7pm on Tuesday 8th December has been cancelled due to travel difficulties caused by the recent weather.

Please keep in your prayers those who are affected by the weather and all those who are helping in the emergency services and those being good neighbours for those in need.

The Mass had been planned to mark the start of the Year of Mercy, the day is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception which will finish in November 2016 on the Feast of Christ the King.


Opening of the Holy Door 
The mass when Bishop Michael Campbell will open the door at the Cathedral on Sunday 13th December (3rd Sunday of Advent) at the 6.30pm Mass all are welcome to attend. 

Year of Mercy Getting Ready

The space at the back of the Cathedral where the Inspire display cabinet usually stands is a sure sign that the Year of Mercy is almost upon us.

Mass to celebrate Year of Consecrated life

Bishop Michael Campbell OSA will be with us for mass at St Peter's Cathedral, Lancaster at 7pm on Tuesday 8th December to mark the beginning of the Year of Mercy and the 50th Anniversary of the close of the Second Vatican Council. 

He will be with us again at 6.30pm on Sunday 13th December for the opening of the Holy Door of Mercy. 

Each Deanery throughout the Diocese is expected to make a pilgrimage which includes the liturgy of the Holy Door and the opportunity to receive God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Our Lancaster Deanery pilgrimage will take place on Saturday 7th May beginning at 1pm and concluding by 3.30pm. Dates and details are recorded on calendar for Lancaster Cathedral.
