Let us pray for vocations to the religious life, and for all who are trying to answer God's call to serve Him in poverty, chastity and obedience.
In our parish we give thanks for the work of the Ursuline sisters who are based at St Thomas More and the Nazareth House sisters.
In the past, the parish has been supported by Sisters of Mercy from Liverpool who opened what is now St Walburgha's Chapel, and later the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ) who lived in what is now the Pastoral Centre. For older members of the parish, a post from Billington's Blog to see some familiar faces from the SHCJ community who served the parish well, before they moved in the 1990s. Many have also visited and been spiritually guided by the Bernadines Cistercian of Esquermes sisters at the Monastery of Our Lady of Hyning.
In the week ahead we'll look at the work of these religious sisters.
