Midnight Mass

A chance to come together to sing familiar Christmas carols which remind us of the messages of Christmas - of "Peace on earth, good will to men, From heaven's all-gracious King".

A warm welcome to all
We were welcomed by a familiar face from 10.30 who welcomes visitors each Sunday and on this special Mass. "O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy"

O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord

At the start of Mass the Bishop blessed the crib
and the baby Jesus was placed into the crib.

During Advent we have not sung the Gloria, at this first Mass of Christmas the Bishop intoned (sang out) the first line reminding us of the angels greetings "Gloria in excelsis Deo - Glory to God in the highest".
To remind us of the significance of the line in the creed we genuflected at the line

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.  And were of course reminded that Heaven and earth are full of your glory as we sang the Holy, Holy, Holy (sanctus).

We finished with joining with the angels as we sang out
Hark, the herald angels sing, Glory to the new-born King.
