Monstrance used during exposition |
Friday 4th March / Saturday 5th March
In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has called on the whole church to celebrate ‘24 hours for the Lord’ on Friday 4th to Saturday 5th March 2016. The Cathedral will be hosting a 24 hour event that will be open to parishes around the Lancaster Deanery and the Diocese as a whole.
We will begin with mass at 12.15 on Friday 4th March and finish with mass at 12.15 on Saturday 5th March. During the 24 hours there will be Exposition, offering opportunities for both private and guided prayer. Priests will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation at various times throughout the 24 hour period.
While ‘24 hours for the Lord’ may be open to the Lancaster Deanery and Diocese, we should also view it as a very special opportunity for our own parish to mark this Jubilee Year of Mercy. Times for guided prayer will be published when details have been confirmed.
