Presentation of the Lord

Presentation of the Lord
Tomorrow we remember when Mary and Joseph went to the Temple to give thanks for Jesus, known as Candlemas and the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.  As Jews mary and Joseph brought an offering a pair of turtle doves which you can see in the picture on the left.  These beautiful stained glass windows are in the Lady Chapel.  The image on the right is of Anna and Simeon whose faith is an example to us all. Simeon's song of praise the Nunc Dimitis is said or sung each night in the prayer of the Church at Compline (night prayer).
At last, all-powerful Master,

You give leave to Your servant

to go in peace, according to Your promise.

For my eyes have seen Your salvation
which You have prepared for all nations,
the light to enlighten the Gentiles

and give glory to Israel, Your people.
