Mary Mother of God

Mary looks on as she does throughout Jesus' life 

Happy New Year, it is fitting that the first day of the year we should celebrate the Feast of Mary Mother of God.  As well as telling us about Mary's role, her title and this feast is when we also remember Jesus as Man and God.  

When we identify the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother of God, the emphasis is only secondarily on her- it is primarily about Christ. Mary being referred to as the Mother of God tells us that Jesus Christ is God and was always God. Fr Steve Gunrow (To read more see Word on Fire, 2016)
