Today is Good Shepherd Sunday. This year is Year A and we read the first 10 verses of John Chapter 10, in the other years B and C we also focus on John Chapter 10, all looking at Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
For a Spiritual Communion pdf containing a copy of the readings, Bishop Paul Swarbrick's Pastoral Letter and universal prayer (Bidding Prayers) for 4th Sunday of Easter.
The Bishop carries his crook to remind us he is our shepherd.
We are also asked to pray especially for vocations today. At baptism we are all called to follow Jesus, each in our own way. The Bishop's letter reminds us of many ways people are living out their vocation. He also asks us to remember in our prayers those men who are at seminary preparing to become priests and shepherds of God's people. We remember them and also priests of the diocese and of course Fr Steve and Fr John Paul who as mentioned in yesterday's post are missing us all.
