Feast of Christ the King

This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, which is also known as youth Sunday where we take time to give thanks for all our young people.

Our Gospel reading invites us to think about the Corporal works of mercy which are the actions we can do to take care of the physical and material needs of others.  This year, for many of us our routines have been turned upside down, things are different in so many ways. We may have not been able to act and do the usual things for other people, our equivalent of feeding the hungry, giving water to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, visiting the sick, or those imprisoned, or even bury the dead. We may have developed new ways, of phoning or zooming a friend, sanitising a church bench, making a mask or scrubs, leaving a parcel of food on a doorstep, waving to someone through a window.

It is also a time to remember the work of our Youth Service. As noted in the newsletter This year the collection for National Youth Sunday is going to be taken online. The proceeds will go to support Castlerigg Manor and the Youth Service. castleriggmanor.co.uk/nys or alternatively you can send donations to ‘Castlerigg Manor, Manor Brow, Keswick, Cumbria CA12 4AR
