Feast of the Chair of St Peter

Feast of the Chair of St Peter

Today we celebrate the feast of a chair! Well not really, it is what the chair represents which is the authority of the Pope's chair or Cathedra.  In all Cathedrals there is a Cathedra and because St Peter's is the mother church of the Lancaster Diocese, we have our own Cathedra which is a sign of the authority of Bishop Paul Swarbrick, Bishop of Lancaster.

In the following two short videos we hear from Archbishop Mark Colerdige in Brisbane who explains the importance of the Cathedra and connection with this feast day.

Next a short video showing images of the Chair of St Peter and some of its history.
