Give us this day our daily bread

The gospel this week is also from John's gospel and carries on the theme of the past few weeks - of Jesus as the bread of life. We believe that when we receive Holy Communion we are receiving Jesus' Body and Blood.

This short video explains a part of the Eucharistic Prayer known as the Epiclesis   (invocation) a calling down of the Holy Spirit, which transforms the bread and wine we bring at the offertory into the Body and Blood of Jesus we receive in Holy Communion.
This can be a good time to:
  • share memories of our First Holy Communion (click here for blog posts in June 2012 for memories of people in the parish);
  • think about how we can take Jesus with us as we leave Mass to feed others;
  • watch the news and think about the ways people are 'hungry' or in need of God's love.

The colouring page today is of bread and wheat.  As you colour in each grain of wheat think of the ways God feeds us and gives us our daily break click here
