Loyal friends of Jesus

In the Gospel we hear how people thought Jesus' teaching about the Bread of Life was hard to believe in and they went away.  Jesus asked the 12 apostles if they were going to leave.  Simon Peter said
"Lord, who shall we go to? You have the message of eternal life, and we believe; we know that you are the Holy One of God."
Staying with Jesus at this time was a sign of loyalty.  Like the apostles we are asked if we believe and will be a loyal friend of Jesus.
This can be a good time to:
  • talk about what it means to be loyal to Jesus ... saying our daily prayers, coming to Mass, receiving God's forgiveness in the sacrament of Reconciliation;
  • thank God for those people who are loyal friends to us
