In recent years the parish has celebrated the Feast of Candlemass and Presentation of the Lord with the blessing of candles, a candlelit procession and tableaux of the reading by pupils from the Cathedral Primary School. The scene is shown in stained glass windows that are in the Lady Chapel.
Candlemas, 2nd February also marks 40 days since Jesus' birth. The presentation of the Lord at the temple is also remembered as the 4th joyful mystery in the rosary.
This short video shows the events of the Presentation of the Lord and includes the words of Simeon, whose song of praise is sung as part of night prayer.
