On the 1st Sunday of Lent, the children talked about the things they would most like and asked if they would be like Jesus and resist the temptation of having these things.
One was willing to give up all the money in the world and keep their family.
Another was willing to give up all the Lego in the world if they could keep their health
And another said they would prefer to go to heaven than have a Lamborghini
We talked about how we are sometimes tempted but if we listen to our conscience (that voice inside which guides us to do the right thing) we will be able to resist temptation like Jesus.
As we go through Lent, the children are colouring in the crosses on a special Lenten calender which is encouraging them to say some extra prayers (pray), to helping someone or do something without being told (give of ourselves as well as our money). Many of them are also giving something up (fast). For a link to the Lenten Calendar or to other ideas for Lent see Loyola Press.
