Learning from a Hazelnut

Julian of Norwich
Today we remember Julian of Norwich who is a Christian mystic from the 14th century who is believed to be the first woman to have written a book in English.  During an illness she had 16 revelations or 'showings' which she wrote down in her book Revelations of Divine Love.  In one of the revelations or 'showings' she saw was a little hazelnut, very small and unimportant.  Julian explained how looking prayerfully at the hazelnut helped her to understand three important things about God.
God has made everything.
God loves everything.
God looks after everything.

Julian believed that no matter what goes wrong, because God loves us, in the end all shall be well. For children to read more about her life visit Loyola Saints stories or adults read her book Revelations of Divine Love.
