The space at the back of the Cathedral where the Inspire display cabinet usually stands is a sure sign that the Year of Mercy is almost upon us.
Bishop Michael Campbell OSA will be with us for mass at St Peter's Cathedral, Lancaster at 7pm on Tuesday 8th December to mark the beginning of the Year of Mercy and the 50th Anniversary of the close of the Second Vatican Council.
He will be with us again at 6.30pm on Sunday 13th December for the opening of the Holy Door of Mercy.
Each Deanery throughout the Diocese is expected to make a pilgrimage which includes the liturgy of the Holy Door and the opportunity to receive God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Our Lancaster Deanery pilgrimage will take place on Saturday 7th May beginning at 1pm and concluding by 3.30pm. Dates and details are recorded on calendar for Lancaster Cathedral.
