Year C - Advent 1

Wishing all our readers a Happy New Year.  Today we begin the start of the Church year, children attending children's liturgy, will get the chance to see on their calendar how we are starting a four week preparation for the coming of Jesus at Christmas.  They will also be focusing on the Advent candle and the virtue of HOPE - to read more about this, see our previous post about hope with a short reflection on hope What can you do this Advent to pass on hope to others?.

However, Advent is also a time when we remember Jesus' coming at the end of time. We are reminded in today's reading about this end of time when Jesus will come in Glory, which is illustrated in the abstract painting by Wassily Kandinsky’s The Last Judgment and described in this Arts and Faith video from Loyola Press.

What are you doing this Advent?  Why not get in touch to let us know?
