Good Friday - Jesus dies on the cross

Three of the many crosses created by the children
with symbols of water, their homes, the Cathedral,
the trees in the park and flowers as a sign of new life,
the joy of sunshine the love of God and their
family represented by the heart and
the black clouds representing the Lancaster rain!
An art reflection on the crucifixion for Good Friday, see below.   Today our young people gathered for stations of the cross whilst the adults listened to the Passion, prayed the general intercessions and venerated the cross.  During our time together the children decorated a plain cross with images and symbols of Lancaster, following the tradition of the Romero Cross which is decorated in the colour and art work of the people of El Salvador.
See also our Lancaster Cathedral Young People facebook page for this years stone cross created by our confirmation young people earlier in the week when they prayed the stations.
